Weekend in Review: Part I: Words.

This has been a whirlwind of a weekend. I am pooped both literally and emotionally, so editing pictures tonight of our weekend wasn't quite on the top of my priority list. But don't worry, I'll get the pictures posted soon. I did want to document a few things before I forget what I wanted to say :)

  • Friday was an emotional day for me. Arkansas' football program (more specifically, our head coach) is involved in quite the scandal. I've had to sort through a lot of emotions that this story brings on, and it has nothing to do with football. If you're not familiar with what's going on with Arkansas, just check out espn. I'll probably blog more about this later, but I really want to know the whole story before I put things to "paper." On top of all of the emotions from that incident swirling in my head, I got the news that one of my very best friends, Mare, gave birth to three of her quads (baby Catherine has already gone to be with Jesus and I so look forward to the day when I can meet her in Heaven). My heart has been so heavy for her as she and her husband face some very difficult weeks ahead. You can read her blog here, and if you are a prayer warrior, I ask that you pray for their entire family.
  • In other news on Friday, we brought the boys to a little monthly festival that one of the local towns puts on. This was the first time we've gone and Brayden has asked to do EVERYTHING that they have there. Unfortunately most rides and stuff are a bit pricey, and we were thankfully able to convince him to do the big blow up slide. At $3 for 4 slides, he felt like he was getting a lot and we didn't feel like we were breaking the bank.
  • Saturday we had a birthday party for Brayden's friend Sawyer, and I also had a newborn photoshoot. I haven't really been doing shoots lately... our schedule has been SO packed. But I had told Shannon months ago that I would do this, and to be honest, I enjoyed getting the camera focused on something other than my two little munchkins. We decided to forego the Easter church going madness on Sunday morning by going to our church's Saturday night service. It was awesome and definitely filled up my tank and refocused my heart.
  • Sunday we celebrated Easter. I loved Easter this year as I got to experience the death and ressurrection of our Savior through the eyes of a child. I have loved watching Brayden slowly connect different pieces of the story and really relate to who Jesus was and what Jesus did for US. He was precious this morning as we shouted his memory verse, Matthew 28:6: JESUS IS RISEN, AS HE SAID! My Uncle and his family came over for an Easter lunch, and we enjoyed the beautiful weather together watching the boys have an Easter egg hunt. We spent much of the afternoon today either lounging around the house or working on the yard. All 4 of us are struggling big time with allergies, and I am ready for this season of hacking, coughing, runny noses and itchy throats to be gone. I pray that you were able to celebrate the risen Lord today and remember what great things He has done for us. Have a wonderful week!
