Connor had his 9 month well check today. He had fun crinkling the paper.
He started the visit off with a bang by spitting up all over the floor. I wish I could have had a picture of the nurses face... she looked a little mortified by the amount and remarked that it was more like vomit than spit up... thank you nurse for that excellent observation! I'll be talking to doc about it today thanks! (in the nurses defense she was REALLY nice about everything, I just think it's funny when people make OBVIOUS statements about things, especially the spit up that we deal with on a nearly minute basis). I was really happy to find out that Connor has finally caught up length wise compared to his weight, measuring in at just under 29 inches. He weighed in at a whopping 21 pounds 10 ounces. He's a heavy weight folks! And he's officially in most of the clothes that Brayden was wearing LAST SUMMER. It cracks me up. I brought up the whole spit up, projectile vomit issue with our doctor. And basically there's not much we can do until Connor (hopefully) outgrows the issue. He did suggest thickening his bottles with cereal, so we're trying that to see if it will help a bit. I'll keep you posted, but I'm not holding my breath (except when he spits up bananas. Then I'll hold my breath). During the appointment Brayden drew a picture on his leg with a pen, tried to douse himself in "magic lotion" (aka Purel) and dumped the entire container of little puffs on the counter, eating said pile of puffs off of the counter and floor. Our pediatrician just laughed the entire time. I did not. :) I was a little bit embarrassed that I had to leave the mess for the nurse to clean up after we left, despite the fact that our doctor assured me that they've cleaned up messes like this before. Life with a toddler is NEVER boring, that's for sure!
After the doc visit we headed over to my friend Katie's house for a fun playdate. Brayden was SO happy to see his friends. Connor was, well, he was Connor... who is pretty much always happy.
I was happy to get a bit of adult interaction, and laugh about the fact that Connor spits up more than most people who have a stomach virus (thank goodness Katie has wood floors!). Brayden threw a fit made for hollywood on our way out of the door when it was time to leave, which is the second time he's done this this week. I found myself with a 21 pound infant in one arm and a toddler hanging by his shoulder joints in the other, all the while my blood pressure rising high enough to burst a vessel. I am SO over 2 year old temper tantrums, let me tell you!
And I've saved the best for last, even though we did it first today. Brayden starts school next week (Mother's Day Out) and he will be using a napmat this year instead of being in a crib during naptime. I didn't want him to have to sleep on the plastic mat, so I had someone make a cover for it. Isn't it ADORABLE? Brayden was SO excited to see it, and even pulled out his "buddies" (what he calls his blankets) to take a "nap" on it this afternoon.
this is the mat all folded up. She made a little strap that wraps it all up!
And even after all of that, I was still able to muster up the energy to venture out to Walmart, and clean the bathrooms and kitchen floors tonight. Whew, what a day!
