The AWANA Handbook and His Best.

This year we decided to try out AWANA. Brayden has always had a love for memorizing scripture, something that I have wanted to encourage and cultivate, and capture while he is still young. AWANA seemed to be the perfect solution for that, because, if I'm honest, I'm not the best at remembering to work on him with memorization and educational activities. I was kind of nervous that he might not like it, but considering he cried when the first night was over, I'd say it's been a smashing success.

In order for Brayden to earn his handbook and vest, he first had to memorize 3 different scripture verses and the Cubbies moto. We worked hard on them for 3 weeks, and last week he finally nailed the last two. When I went to pick him up, he ran to the door and started saying "Momma, Momma! I got my book and my best (vest)!" He was so anxious to put it on that we put it on him before I even left the church. It was the cutest little moment, of him beaming so proudly with his new book and vest, so proud of his accomplishment. I was so proud that he had achieved this small little milestone, and so happy to know that he is learning God's word and hiding it in his heart. If you live near an AWANA program and have a children, I highly encourage you to try it out! Brayden has SO much fun, he learns scripture, and it keeps me accountable to not only teach him, but learn it with him.

Here's a picture I took before we left the parking lot. I think his face says it all :)

My prayer and deepest longing is that both of my boys grow up with a strong knowledge of the word of God, that they fear the Lord, and that they grow up to be men of courage, willing to stand for Jesus even when others around them might not be.

I love you Brayden Thomas and am so proud of your accomplishment!
