Your name: Maria

Your blog’s name: www.ourpictureperfect.com

Your family:
Our family consists of my husband, Jeremy, our son, Benjamin, and me, Maria. I was born in Nicaragua, grew up in Miami, Florida and went to college at the University of Florida {Go Gators!} where I met Jeremy. We got married in 2006 and had our son January 2011. I love God, my husband, my Benjamin, and all things family. Other loves include: Gator football and the SEC, Coke, country music, Bollywood, seasons, sushi, late nights, fireworks, Reese’s Pieces, and laughing ‘til it hurts. Oh yeah, I also love being a mother and staying home with my baby.
Jeremy likes discussing religion and politics, drinking coffee, pretending to be a carpenter, photography and fishing.
Benjamin loves God, mom, dad and all things fun. Other loves include: being outdoors, attempting to walk, eating all types of foods, learning new words, and playing with cousins.

Is there a special meaning behind the name of your blog:
Yes. Jeremy and I both went to college for a while and got out ready to take on the world. Well, like so many getting out of school now, we’ve had to stay with family while we get jobs and housing. Needless to say those frustrations coupled with other life events have made the last year and a half seemingly unbearable at times. However, at the end of the day we realize that we are super blessed. And that is what our blog is about. It chronicles our lives as we take our turn at making a home and starting a family. We have good times and we hard times but, at the end of the day we have each other. Although it may not be anyone else's perfect, it's Our Picture Perfect.

When and why did you start blogging:
We started our blog for a couple of reasons. First of all, like everyone in the blogosphere, we want to keep our families and friends informed of what is going on with our lives. Who am I kidding? They only care about Benjamin. Ha! Having family and friends spread out across the U.S. and other parts of the world, it makes more sense to update them via blog then to call or email when something is going on.
Second, this will be a good way to document our lives and remember the good, and not-so-good, times. It sure beats scrapbooking or journaling. Also, it will keep us accountable to take pictures often and see our little family grow and change. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while, and we are finally doing it!
Finally, there will be a lot of changes going on in our lives, like buying a house and growing our family. Not only will it be fun to look back and remember where we started and how we felt during this season of our life, but we hope to entertain, encourage, and post helpful information for others going through similar things and anyone who wishes to read.

What are you favorite hobbies:
I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and dreaming about sleeping in. Is Pinterest a hobby? If so, that too.

The guests at your fantasy dinner party would be...
I would make it interesting and invite interesting, political, and controversial figures to keep the conversation flowing and ask them many questions. For example, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and Benjamin Netanyahu. Jeremy agrees, but would add Rush Limbaugh.
Now for my fun answer. I’d invite great chefs and foodies like Paula Deen, Ina Garten, Giada Delaurentiis (“Pass the parmigiano reggiano”) and for some testosterone, a little Bobby Flay. Musical entertainment provided by Michael BublĂ© and Harry Connick, Jr. (“Don’t fight over me, guys!”)

If you could be or do anything else - what would you be/do?
I went to grad school to become a school psychologist and this would be great when the kid(s) start school- you know, in 5-10 years!

If you could live in any other time period, when might that be?
I would love the Victorian era and dressing in those long, elegant gowns. It would be great to be free of technology and just live within your surroundings.

Do you prefer books or movies?
Definitely books! I was an avid reader growing up often going to book stores and sitting on the floor to read for hours. Plus, it’s easier to read a few chapters while Benjamin naps and continue reading at night.

A recent book and/or movie you’ve seen/read that you LOVE:
(Sadly, I haven’t read anything worthwhile recently)

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
People who mumble and constantly having to ask them to repeat themselves. It’s impossible to have a conversation if you can’t understand half the things someone is saying.

A phrase to sum you up:
“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.”
