A Dollop of Profiles

Happy Friday yall! I for one cannot express to you how happy I am that it's Friday. It's been a LOOOONG week and I am ready to spend some time with ALL of my boys, not just the littles :) And since it's Friday, I figured we'd keep with the tradition from the past few weeks and have another little profile! This week is Kat from Living Like the Kings. Kat started reading a few weeks ago when she found my blog through Jenna's comment challenge. She even allowed me to guest post on HER blog this month-- you should check it out! And without further ado, I'll let Kat take over... enjoy her profile and be sure to leave her some bloggy love!

Your name: Kat

Your blog’s name: Living Like the Kings

When and why did you start blogging:
I started blogging in February 2010. To be completely honest, it was just another one of my hobby ideas. I start a new hobby almost yearly and it’s always something with me. When I started blogging (after reading other people’s blogs for a year or two), I kind of thought that it would fall by the wayside just like everything else I do. But what I didn’t know is that blogging is a community. Since I’ve started I’ve made some incredible friends, even if we haven’t met in person. I’ve always loved taking pictures and writing, but now I turn to my blog for almost everything. Need advice on sleep deprivation with a 4 month old? – Blog about it. Need confirmation on your choices? – Blog about it. And once we had a baby girl, blogging has become a journal that I can turn to so I won’t forget the small things like the first time she sat up or just how wobbly she used to be.

Your family:

Our household consists of myself (late 20s; blogger, photographer, poop-cleaner, family feeder), my husband Jon (late 20s, golfer, hard worker, prankster, chili eater), Peanut (9.5 months old; investigator, pooper, dog hair puller), and Travis (6; Yorkshire terrier, couch lounger, toy thief, farter).

What are you favorite hobbies:

Oh, you mean aside from chasing a crawling tot around the house, hoping that she doesn’t pull things off the shelves or smash into one of the many corners in my house? I love scrapbooking and taking photographs. The scrapbooking has taken quiet a back seat since our little girl was born (see above), but my picture-taking is at an all time high. I used to also be a runner and a decent cook. The running is on hold for the time being and my cooking has turned into baby food making. Apparently having kids turns your life a bit upside down…or so I hear.

As I mentioned above, one of my hobbies is to have hobbies (yup…), so here is a short list of some of my other hobbies: snowboarding, skiing, party planning, weight lifting, blog designing, dog training.

The guests at your fantasy dinner party would be...

I would love to have a dinner party with all my favorite bloggers (think you’d come?). I have “met” so many amazing, supportive, creative, funny people through blogging and it would be super amazing if I actually got to sit down to a dinner with them and get to really know them. You know, in real life.

If you could be or do anything else - what would you be/do?

I would love to stay home with my little nugget and blog full time. Instead I’m an IT Manager. That has its ups because I love what I do, but there are many days when I wish that I could spend more time with Peanut.

If you could live in any other time period, when might that be?
Definitely the 50s-60s. Sure there was a lot of inequality, but those dresses with the big skirts are just too cute to pass up.

Do you prefer books or movies?
I’m addicted to both equally (maybe I should add this to my long list of hobbies). I am a pretty big believer in reading the book first, then seeing a movie, even if it does usually lead to me whining and complaining about just how much better than book was.

A recent book you’ve read that you LOVE:

I just finished reading The Help (in preparation of possibly sometime seeing the movie) and I must say – it was incredible. I loved the storyline and the characters – the way that book was written (from the perspective of 3 of the characters, switching back and forth) made me feel like I was in their world. I loved being able to understand the entire story from the 3 very different perspectives.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Chewing with the mouth open, resulting in a gross, slurp sound. When I am out to lunch or dinner with someone who eats like this, I lose all appetite and concentration and end up sitting there, trying hard not to throw up.

A phrase to sum you up:

Totally awesome. Yup. (and very humble, obviously).
