5QF: 4th of July Style

1. What is one thing you miss the most about childhood?
Innocence. There are a lot of things that I miss, but they are mostly selfish, like not having to pay bills and things like that. I miss innocence. I love it that my son is so innocent. I hate thinking that one day he won't be innocent. That he'll know what hate is, what violence is, etc. It makes me sad.
2. Are you still friends with your friends from high school?
Yes! There are 2 girls that I keep up with regularly, but the others it can be several months and we catch up like we'd talked the day before.
3. Is there a catch phrase, cliche, or word that just drives you bonkers every time you hear it?
I don't really like when people say "fair enough," but there's not really a good reason for it. I hate it when people say things like "well, it's all in God's will" when something terrible is happening. Don't get me wrong, I completely agree that God's will is best. But sometimes that saying is the worst thing to say to someone who is grieving. I guess that's more of a pet peeve than a cliche I like. I'm not really sure I answered this question correctly... LOL.

4. What is one thing that you think symbolizes America...besides "Old Glory"?
Freedom. I think that we fail to realize how great we have it here in the States. We are able to speak about God openly, parent how we chose, share our beliefs openly... there are not many other countries that allow that.
5. What are your 4th of July weekend plans?
Spending time with family. We'll be spending the actual 4th with my Uncle and his family that live near us; this is probably the 7th year we've spent the 4th with them, and we always have so much fun. This year there will be no fireworks, as we have a little one who goes to bed well before dusk.

Hope everyone has a safe, happy 4th of July! Be sure to thank a soldier (or their families) for the freedom we celebrate this weekend.
